Construction began in 2015. Graham was the design-build contractor and Graham Capital financed the CDN$407M provincial psychiatric facility, the newest and most advanced mental health treatment centre in Canada. The P3 (Private-Public-Partnership) project features a new 284-bed hospital, with 188 beds replacing the existing 156-patient facility, and an additional 96-room secure unit for male and female offenders living with mental health issues. Patients have their own private rooms with North Saskatchewan River and Prairie views and spaces with abundant natural light throughout the facility for various forms of therapy.
